Memory and Movement Inside The Irish Labour History Society

  • Co. Dublin – Dublin City

The Irish Labour History Society is custodian of a unique collection of artefacts, records and archival material relating to the history and heritage of Irish workers and the wider Irish Labour Movement. Many of these items have been deposited with the Society over many many years.
In recent years, with the support of the Heritage Council, the Society has been actively widening access to, conserving and promoting the collections through a variety of methods including conservation work, digitisation projects and increased outreach. These two videos in this project document the unique collections held in Beggars Bush, the efforts by the Society to widen access, along with highlighting the continued work of the Society in ensuring that the heritage of Irish workers and the wider labour movement is moved away from 'at risk' towards a more sustainable future.

The collections are held in our premises in Beggars Bush. (Free introductory tours are available, by prior appointment, on Wednesday 19th August during Heritage Week 2026).
The Society continues to collect, conserve and provide free access to researchers (by appointment) at our premises in Beggars Bush, with the support of the Heritage Council's Heritage Organisations Support Fund.
