Preserving the Industrial Heritage of Irish Railways
Waterford Suir Valley Railway, a social enterprise and registered charity, was set up to promote and preserve Waterford's rich railway heritage. It does this by operating a narrow gauge railway as a tourist attraction on a preserved 10km section of the abandoned Waterford to Cork railway line between Kilmeadan Station and Bilberry, Waterford City. There are storyboards around the beautifully reconstructed Kilmeadan Station, telling the Story of Rail. These stories are also available on the website for everyone to read.
During Heritage Week the railway will operate the regular schedule with train departing on the hour from 11am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday and 12noon to 5pm, Sunday. This can be booked online through the website or get you tickets on the day in the Mark 2 Irish Rail Carriage Ticket Office.
