Wildacres Open Day Nature Experience

Want to discover the joy of connecting with nature?

Wildacres is a multi-award-winning nature reserve and biodiversity education centre in County Wicklow, close to Brittas Bay. We are inviting you to get hands-on with our Biodiversity Monitoring Project 2026.

Special announcement: We are delighted to welcome wildlife videographer Jack Morley from The ReWildlife, who will be on-site capturing footage of the events throughout the day.

Thanks to support from The Heritage Council, we are offering this immersive one-hour guided experience for a nominal fee.

Come along to monitor Irish pond life and help track our vital pollinator species.

What to expect

Guided mini-tour
A vibrant 30-minute walk through a beautiful mosaic of restored wildlife habitats.

Citizen science
Learn how to conduct an official Flower-Insect Timed Count and see if you can spot Ireland's six most common bumblebee species.

Pond life sampling
Use our easy identification sheets to discover the fascinating aquatic creatures and native plants found in our 67 wildlife ponds.

Duration: One-hour experience

Time slots: 10.00am, 12.00 noon, 2.00pm and 4.00pm

Price: €10 per person
All proceeds go directly to biodiversity protection and education at Wildacres Nature Reserve. Wildacres is a social enterprise.

Concessions: Two free places are available per session for OAPs and unwaged individuals. Please contact us directly to book.

Group size: Maximum 16 participants per session

Age restriction: Minimum age 16

Dog policy: No dogs permitted, except guide and assistance dogs.

We welcome wheelchair users. We have been working towards making the nature reserve as wheelchair accessible as possible.

The guided mini-tour is via a combination of gravel pathway and grass pathway. Please contact us in advance to discuss your individual requirements so that we can make your visit as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
