Wicklow Placenames Project Workshop

Placenames are an important part of our heritage, revealing much about a local area, its geomorphology, history and traditions. Minor placenames are generally not recorded on traditional maps but instead exist in local knowledge, often passed on through generations and communities via oral tradition. These minor placenames are especially at risk of disappearing if not recorded.

The Wicklow Placenames project aims to record and map these minor placenames and is looking for your help. Come along to our workshop to find out more, share your knowledge, and submit your records.
