Meeting at John's Street Car park, we will walk to Goats Hill, North Street, South Street, Brennan's Lane, Library Park, St Mary's and St Michael's Church, and Maher's Yard and the Courthouse to see walls of New Ross.
There is a wide range of different botanical species on the walls of New Ross. Species to conserve include Lempholemma myriococcum on Brennan's Lane and Parmelina pastellifera at Library park.
The town centre of New Ross acessible from South Street is a surprising place for many distinct kinds of botanical life. A whats app group for the Irish Geological Association for Heritage Week 2025 is available for photo sharing among participants.
Our focus will be on the ferns, plants, mosses, liverworts, algae, lichens and fungi as well as the rock types visible in buildings on or near South Street.
Bring a mobile phone to take photographs so we can caption them with their botanical and geological content.
