Comber or Comar means a 'confluence of the waters' and was home to an ancient abbey founded by St Patrick, before its resurgence as a plantation town in the 17th century and it's later development into a rural centre of industry and agriculture from the 18th century. Many famous products bear the name Comber including Linen, Comber Whiskey and the Comber 'earlies' potato an EU protected foodstuff- one of only 15 in Ireland.

Join the Comber Historical Society for a tour exploring the rich and diverse history of Comber town; exploring industry, religion, historic conflict and more!
