Walk & Talk: Water, Wetlands, and Biodiversity in Carrigaholt, West Clare

This walk and talk will focus on the local biodiversity value of the Moyarta River and local wetlands in Carrigaholt, West Clare. This family friendly event, co-hosted by the Carrigaholt Development Association (CDA) and the Local Authority Waters Programme (LAWPRO), will start in the shed with a brief talk about the wonderful local biodiversity found locally in Carrigaholt. The walk will be to the nearby Moyarta (or Carrigaholt) River and the local wetlands. Following the walk we will return to the shed for light refreshments.

This local community event will combine an exploration of the rich biodiversity of the Moyarta River and the expectational local wetlands. It will also outline the great work being undertaken by the CDA to enhance local water quality and the biodiversity value of the area. The event with be jointly led by LAWPRO’s Regional Project Lead, Ruairí Ó Conchúir, and the CDA Project Team, Carsten Krieger, and Aideen Day.

The Carrigaholt Development Association is a local volunteer group in West Clare. They work to keep the fishing village of Carrigaholt a great place to live and visit. The CDA manages local projects like wetlands, maintains local castle grounds, and supports local businesses. Their environmental work, focused on the Moyatra River and local wetlands, is supported by LAWPRO.

Free event. All welcome. Followed by light refreshments on the shed (across from Keanes).
