Voices in Stewardship: Celebrating West Cork's New Oral Heritage Hubs

Join the West Cork Oral Heritage Group for a special Heritage Week event celebrating the achievements of the Voices in Stewardship project and the establishment of more than ten new community oral heritage hubs across West Cork.

Representatives from each hub will share short presentations highlighting the oral heritage of their local area, the work they have undertaken to record and preserve community memories, and the stories they are beginning to uncover. The event will feature a selection of newly recorded audio excerpts, offering a unique opportunity to hear the voices, traditions and lived experiences that are helping to build a lasting record of West Cork's rich cultural heritage. Contributions will also be made by our project partners and consultants, Mac Conmara Heritage and the Cork Folklore Project.

Looking to the future, each group will outline its ambitions for continued recording, preservation and community engagement, demonstrating how local stewardship is creating a sustainable network dedicated to safeguarding oral heritage for generations to come. This event offers an inspiring opportunity to discover the diversity of West Cork's communities and celebrate the people ensuring their stories continue to be heard.
