
Vernacular Furniture and Traditional Crafts Weekend
Larchill is hosting a Vernacular and Traditional Irish Crafts Weekend on August 15th and 16th.
Saturday will include talks and demonstrations on traditional Irish vernacular crafts, including lilting and whistling by Liam Jones, basketry with Beth Murphy, discussions on cob-walled buildings by Dr Seamus Cullen, demonstrations of greenwood vernacular furniture making, and Hannah Gallagher (National Museum of Ireland – Country Life, Turlough Park House) talking about old Irish clothing, as well as bringing examples. More to come!
Examples of vernacular furniture and crafts will be on display, and all those present can enjoy the talks, demonstrations, and workshops, as well as walk around the gardens and lake. (please book in advance)
There will be a Craft and Country Market on Sunday from 10am to 2pm.
Saturday, 15th is free of charge, Sunday, 16th is €2 entry for the craft market. Please book in advance through the Larchill website.
