Tydavnet Hidden Heritage Launch of Photographs

Tydavnet Hidden Heritage project uncovering your own local History.

This project was created in 2012 by a number of people from Tydavnet who gathered up photographs of people and places from the aera. There were seven different profiles social, buildings school, sport, music, farming, portraits. Also in 2012 Tydanet was nominated for Pride of place by Monaghan County Council and Cornagilta old school was lying derelict at that time. So a number of volunteers got together cleaned up and painted the school ({the paint was donated by MCC ) We decided to show case Tydavnet Hidden Heritage in Cornagilta School as it had been stored in Clones Library.

We renamed Cornagilta School as Cornagilta School Heritage Centre. Over the years the photos have started decay an crumble away. We applied to Monaghan Heritage Council for funding to get the photos reprinted, and thanks to Monaghan Heritage Council we were successful in getting the grant. We have the pictures all reprinted and all back on the walls in Cornagilta School Heritage Centre. Stronger quality of print and material.

Our event is on Sunday 16th August 2026 at 3 pm at Cornagilta School Heritage Centre.
