The Tully Lough Cross was found by treasure hunters in Tully Lough beside a Crannog in 1986. It dates back to the 7th century and is around 400 years older than the Cross of Cong. It had been restored and is now on display in the National Museum in Kildare Street. This walk will take participants from Kilmore Church, where the Cross was displayed and used for religious processional events, to Tully Lough where it was found. The walk will leave the Kilmore Church at 3pm and proceed to Tully Lough. It will take about 30 mins.

Boat Trips from the slipway to the crannog are available but must be pre booked with Tommie Kenoy at 087 7669017. A talk about the Tully Lough Cross. will take place on the Lough shore upon arrival. It will be a sponsored walk. All contributions will be gratefully received and will be used to assist with the restoration of Kilmore church. There is no obligation to give sponsorship and other than that the event is free including the boat trips.
