Become a Medieval Treasure Hunter at Jerpoint Abbey!

Looking for a family adventure this Heritage Week? Younger explorers can take on a special treasure hunt through one of Ireland’s most fascinating medieval sites. Collect your treasure hunt from the Visitor Centre, then head into the abbey and start searching.

Can you spot the medieval knights carved in stone? Find saints, patrons and mysterious faces? Discover exotic animals and strange mythological creatures hiding among the cloisters and monuments?

Jerpoint Abbey was founded in the 12th century and today its ruins are filled with details that bring the Middle Ages to life. Children can explore arches, cloisters and ancient stonework while hunting for the people and creatures left behind by medieval craftsmen more than 800 years ago.

There is plenty for adults to discover too, from the abbey’s Romanesque and Gothic architecture to its remarkable medieval sculpture and beautifully carved tombs. But this Heritage Week, the challenge belongs to the children.

Bring the family, pick up a treasure hunt and see who has the sharpest eyes. You might be surprised by just how much is hiding in the stones.

Normal admission rates apply except Saturday, 15th August which is free admission.

Explore the abbey. Hunt for clues. Meet the Middle Ages.

Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
