Traditional Field Gates of Shercock- Looking back, to look forward

Come along and learn about the traditional field gates of Shercock, in east Cavan. The evening will present findings from the survey conducted in 2025 with an emphasis this year on recording the stories and memories associated with this important piece of our artistic, cultural and built heritage.

On the evening you will also learn about the next steps of this project, including how we will work with a blacksmith to restore a traditional field gate. This aspect of the project aligns with this year's Heritage Week theme of 'Heritage at Risk' and illustrates the proactive steps were have taken, and continue to take, to ensure our cultural, artistic and built heritage is safeguarded for years to come.
