Built in the 1190s by Donal Mor O’Brien, King of Thomond, with the help of Aoifa, wife of Strongbow, Castlegarde is Ireland's oldest continually inhabited castle. It was given a beautiful gothic-style three-story extension designed by the famous Pain brothers in the 1800s. Castlegarde also it has its own well, moat and bawn wall as well as a resident ghost, the Lady in Silk!
The owner David will be your tour guide and will cover over 800 years of history. Each tour takes 90 minutes. Castlegarde is a proud member of Historic Houses of Ireland.

Admission: 50 euro per 90-minute tour: this covers up to 5 people and is a contribution to the Restoration Fund.
Each additional person, add 10 euro.
