Tour of Donard Medieval Church and Graveyard
On Wednesday 20th August at 7.00pm we will meet at the Donard Community hall for a evening of history and in particular the place of Medieval churches in Ireland. We will begin with an introduction by the county archaeologist, Ms Yvonne Whitty. Following this we will take a short walk to the medieval church in Donard. Yvonne will talk on Medieval churches of Ireland and their place in our history. Working with Yvonne on the evening will be Dermot Nolan, Historic Buildings consultant, who will talk on the proposed conservation works. This year we are granted, by the Heritage Council, funding to continue the conservation work on the church and graveyard.
This is an evening event and outdoor so please wear suitable sturdy clothing and footwear. A short walk is part of the event. Marshalls will be on hand to assist and please follow their instructions.
