The War of Independence in North Kerry

As part of National Heritage Week 2026 join us for a screening of the documentary film produced by Jimmy Deenihan for Kerry Writers' Museum in 2021 to commemorate the centenary of the War of Independence.

Using archival footage, photographs and interviews the documentary film commemorates landmark events that took place in North Kerry during the War of Independence from January 1st to the Truce on July 11th. It includes interviews with local historians and direct decedents of those involved. Narrated by Joe Stack of RTE.

The film will be introduced by Jimmy Deenihan and will be followed by an open discussion on the events included.
