An account of an incident of agrarian turbulence which on a particular Sunday evening in 1847 knocked on the door of the bailiff of the Cloghan Estate and shattered his peace. This disturbance occurred in the context of an estate occupied by an improving landlord whose estate manager had provided a base for an innovative education system. This happening which rests on the outer edge of folk memory is returned to the area and community from whence it originated.
