“The Taste of Childhood: Voices Before They Fade” is an intergenerational multicultural heritage event exploring traditions, food memories, oral storytelling, and cultural practices at risk of disappearing through migration, social change, and the loss of intergenerational connection.

Hosted by Multicultural Women’s Shed – Women Without Borders in County Cavan, this community event invites local Irish residents and multicultural communities to share handwritten family recipes, childhood memories, photographs, songs, stories, and traditions connected to home, identity, and belonging.

The event will include a storytelling circle, memory and recipe exhibition, oral history recordings, traditional craft demonstrations, and conversations between generations about preserving living heritage and cultural identity for the future. Young people and volunteers will help document stories and memories shared during the event, helping to create a small community archive of living heritage in County Cavan.

This free and family-friendly event aims to celebrate both Irish and multicultural heritage while encouraging inclusion, participation, and cultural exchange through shared memory, creativity, and storytelling.

Participants are encouraged to bring handwritten recipes, old photographs, cultural objects, or personal stories connected to childhood, migration, and family traditions

This event is designed to encourage intergenerational connection, cultural exchange, and community participation through storytelling, memory sharing, and living heritage activities. Participants are welcome to bring handwritten recipes, old photographs, small cultural objects, or personal stories connected to childhood, migration, family traditions, and community life.

The event is open to all communities and aims to create an inclusive and welcoming environment where diverse cultural voices and traditions can be shared, preserved, and celebrated together
