The Secret Life of the Blackwater River

Free family friendly event, approx. one hour, dress for the occasion, wellies not required but advised for those who want to get close to the action.
Formed by glacial melt waters at the end of the last Ice Age, the Blackwater and its tributaries have been the lifeblood of our communities since the first settlers arrived more than 10,000 years ago.
Today a Special Protected Area and Special Area of Conservation, Chris Murphy of the World History of Kells and the international award-winning conservationists Kells Anglers invite you down to the river, to learn firsthand about its incredible and unique flora and fauna and the extraordinary history and legends of our ancestors along the ancient Blackwater.
