Who were the Nobles of the Woods and why were they so important?

Join the Louth Gardeners and Growers Collective on Saturday, August 23rd as we explore how the ‘Nobles of the Wood’ shaped our landscape and culture in ancient Ireland and why they remain so important for biodiversity today.

Horticulturist Padraig Mathews will lead us on an exploration of our most revered native trees, their uses, their folklore and their value for the environment.

Gerry Leydon, from Drogheda Tidy Towns, will tell us about the exciting projects underway in the area and how future projects will help to enhance and secure our natural landscape for the next generation.

Take the ‘Native Tree Quiz’ to discover which of our everyday trees are native and which are not.

Learn how native trees are key to the survival of our natural heritage. Join in a tree planting demonstration and get advice on how to gather and plant native tree seeds this autumn.

Admission is free, refreshments available and all are welcome. Let’s celebrate nature, together. 🌿

Members of the Louth Gardeners & Growers Collective are invited to take part
in a Seed and Plant Share on the day.
