The No 1 Battery and the Lost Batteries of Athlone: an Illustrated Talk

Join Local Historian Gearoid O'Brien for an illustrated talk on the history of the Batteries in Athlone. The talk will highlight the work of the Athlone No 1 Battery Heritage Group and the ongoing conservation and preservation work on the site, which is the last surviving example of 8 batteries built in the early 19th century to defend the town from the threat of Napoleonic invasion.
