The history and culture of hedge laying in Ireland - an interactive webinar
Hedge laying was once a mainstay of traditional rural life in Ireland. Do you remember a layer coming to your local area? Did your relatives 'bend' the hedges once a year? Do you have a billhook in a shed you are curious about? This event is an evening of chat, discussion, reverie and sharing information on the history and culture of hedge laying in Ireland.
Participants include experienced hedge layers and hedgerow enthusiasts on an all-island basis and we encourage participation from the general public on their memories of local hedge laying practices. The webinar will help to inform Hedgerows Ireland's ongoing work in establishing the history, spread and culture of hedge laying as a traditional practice in Ireland and all are welcome.
