Join Tour Guide Pat (OPW) on a tour that explores the escape of Red Hugh O'Donnell from the Record Tower in 1592!
The Record Tower dominates the southwest corner of the Lower Castle Yard, and is one of the most important structures of medieval Dublin to remain today. Dating from the 13th century, the Record Tower has had a variety of names to suit its varying purposes in history.
The tour will focus on the month of January in 1592, when Red Hugh O'Donnell (aka the Donegal Prince) made his impressive escape from the Tower after a period of imprisonment.
