Join The School of Irish Archaeology in the courtyard at King House, Boyle on the 21st August for free family fun and entertainment exploring the past!
The replica ‘Viking House’ workshop and excavation is designed around children from 6 – 12 years of age.
This innovative activity allows children to explore the Viking world through a simulated and controlled archaeology dig. Children have an opportunity to experience what it is like to be an archaeologist by learning how to excavate the remains of a Viking house. They will have an opportunity to dig for Viking treasures and artefacts dating back over 1000 years and learn about our Viking ancestors through the eyes of real archaeologists!
Workshops run at 11:00, 12:00, 1:00, 2:00 & 3:00pm.
Free tickets for walks ins are available on the day but are limited! It is better to book your free tickets online - so book now!

Funded by Roscommon County Council and the Heritage Council under Ceangal, the Local Authority Heritage Programme, delivered in partnership between the Heritage Council and Local Government Ireland, as an action of Roscommon Heritage Strategy.

This is an outdoor event, so please dress for the weather.
Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.
