
Tapestry Workshop & Talk on Decorative Cross Slab Inishkea South
Heritage Week at Solas Visitor Centre – Monday 17th August
Celebrate the rich heritage of Inishkea with an afternoon and evening of creativity, history and community at the Solas Visitor Centre (F26 X316).
At 4.00pm, join Mná na hEachléime for a Tapestry Workshop, where participants of all ages can discover the traditional art of tapestry weaving. All materials are provided, and the workshop aims to inspire people to learn, create and help keep this valuable heritage tradition alive.
At 6.00pm, enjoy a fascinating illustrated talk by Sue Zajac on the restoration of the Medieval Decorated Cross Slab on Inishkea South. Sue will share the story of the remarkable discovery, the conservation process, and the importance of preserving this nationally significant monument for future generations.
Refreshments will be served, providing an opportunity to meet the speakers, chat with fellow heritage enthusiasts and learn more about the cultural heritage of the Inishkea Islands.
Whether you're interested in traditional crafts, archaeology, local history or simply looking for an enjoyable Heritage Week event, everyone is welcome.
