Wicklow County Archives have been invited by the Royal Irish Academy to author the Wicklow Town Irish Historic Towns Atlas (IHTA). The IHTA records the topographical development of a selection of Irish towns and each town is published separately as a fascicle or folder and includes maps and a detailed text section. It is part of a wider European scheme and thus Irish towns can be studied in their wider European context. As part of this exciting project, the County Archives commissioned conservator Liz D'Arcy to repair and conserve four items from the Wicklow Town collection consisting of two maps and two rental rolls, all dating from the mid-nineteenth century. Liz D'Arcy will share the results of this work and the conservation process itself and Catherine Wright will give a brief introduction to the Wicklow Town Irish Historic Towns Atlas project. This conservation project is supported by a grant from the Heritage Council's Heritage Stewardship Grant fund.
Booking is essential. Please email archives@wicklowcoco.ie or phone 0404-20100 ext. 7204
