Talk and Demo on Stone Sculpture by Artist Ben Byrne

Ben Byrne is a classical stone sculptor, using only hammer and chisels to create forms and textures as has been the way for centuries. Electrical or mechanical tools are not used in his work. His work covers themes of Irish mythology, literature and folklore.

Benedict, though originally from Dublin, is now living in Sicily but spends time in Stradbally working on projects every few years.

All sculptures are made from Kilkenny Limestone from McKeon Stone’s Threecastles quarry.

For Heritage Week Ben will be giving a talk on his work, the craft of stone carving/ stone sculpture and also giving a short demonstration.
