Tales from Clonmethan Graveyard

16 August, 1pm - 2:30pm

  • St Mary's Clonmethan
  • Oldtown
  • Co. Dublin – Fingal

Join local historian Peter Rooney to hear some of the many tales from Clonmethan graveyard! With the remains of St Mary’s Church, a monument to the area’s World War 1 fallen, and one of the oldest beech trees in Fingal, this country graveyard contains stories of love, loss and a Grand National winner.

Peter Rooney is a generous contributor to the Dead Interesting-Tales from Fingal’s Graveyards project. We're gathering stories of our graveyards into a publication to highlight the fascinating people of Fingal over the years. If you want to take part, please send in c.500 words and a picture of the person/gravestone (300dpi min.)-don't forget the women! If it is a non-historic person please make sure to have the family’s permission. Send to heritage.officer@fingal.ie

Booking isn’t required.
