Táin Bó Cúailnge Book Launch & Art Exhibition by Liam Ó' Broin
Wednesday, August 19th at 7pm Book Launch & Art Exhibition of 18 ink drawings depicting different aspects of the great Cattle Raid of Cooley, An Táin Bó Cúailnge.
These drawings were exclusively created by contemporary Irish artist, Liam Ó'Broin and appear in his publication of An Táin Bó Cúailnge - a modern art and literature interpretation of the ancient Irish story associated with the landscape of Rathcroghan and Roscommon.
The exhibition will be available to view until August 29th.
The artist believes in communicating the story of the Táin through this exhibition, with the space in which the exhibition is held being as important as the art itself - one without the other is an incomplete experience.
Rathcroghan Visitor Centre, representing the landscape and the literature of ancient Ireland, is the ideal place as Rathcroghan is the beginning and end of this epic to host the artists vision.
His interpretation of the Táin in book form is concise and easily digested by anyone unfamiliar with the work. Each print depicts different aspects of the Táin and demonstrates the chronologically of the story as it moves from one to the other telling the ancient tale.
