St Anne's Park Community Excavation

The St Anne’s Park Community Archaeology project is entering an exciting new phase for 2026. Come down and check out the ‘Summer House’ dig site, a structure of significant size which would have once overlooked the man-made pond. Very little information survives about the ‘Summer House’, or indeed whether it was even used for this purpose. This summer, expert archaeologists from Archaeology and Built Heritage Ltd will work alongside local volunteers to excavate the area in the hopes of unearthing long-forgotten clues that will inform our understanding of the building, and in turn enrich our knowledge of the St Anne’s Estate and the local area.

Got any questions about the history of St Anne’s Park and the former Guinness estate? ABH archaeologists will be available to chat about the excavation at a finds table with examples of previously excavated items at the new dig site Friday to Tuesday of Heritage Week from 10am-3pm.
