Song and Spraoi - Celebrating Raiftearaí, the Poet
18 August, 8pm - 9:30pm
- Killeeneen National School,
- Craughwell, Co Galway
- H91 X720
- Co. Galway – County
This event celebrates traditional Song, music and storytelling and the legacy of Raiftearaí, the Poet.
Irish music, the language, Gaelic games and traditional dancing have reached all-time popularity, but we should not forget the legacy of those who helped preserve them in times of oppression and poverty. One such person was Raftery (Raiftearaí) the wandering Gaelic poet of pre-Famine Ireland.
This event will be an entertaining night of song, trad music, dance and storytelling. We have lined up people from the wider community who continue Raftery’s role as a sean-nós singer, poet, musician or seanchaí. Bheadh Éire i bhfad níos boichte gan iad.
