  • Cabragh Wetlands Centre
  • Holycross road, Thurles, Tipperary
  • E41 T266
  • Co. Tipperary

If you are thinking of walking a pilgrim path, either in Ireland or abroad, Cabragh Wetlands is the place to be on Thursday, August 20, at 8pm, for a Heritage Week event.

For an evening titled “Slow Journeys” avid pilgrim walkers, Michael Walsh and John G O’Dwyer, will give a presentation on pilgrim walking in Ireland and Spain. The event is especially aimed at those who are thinking of completing a pilgrim walk in the coming year and will provide the necessary information for this.

The evening will commence with a talk from author and Chairman of Pilgrim Paths Ireland, John G O’Dwyer. He will speak about his experiences - some sad, some insightful, some funny - while completing the Irish Pilgrim Paths when writing his bestselling guidebook to these routes.

The second speaker on the evening will be Michael Walshe of the Irish Camino Society. Michael is one of Ireland’s most experienced Camino walkers and has walked the entire pilgrim route from Holycross Abbey to Santiago in Spain. He will he advise those new to walking pilgrim routes and also speak of the Celtic Camino, which combines pilgrim walking in Ireland with Spain. Admission is free. All comers welcome.
