Archaeologist Chris Corlett, author of the recently published 'Round Towers of Ireland' (O'Brien Press), presents an illustrated talk on this fascinating aspect of early Irish history and architecture. The dramatic round tower is a unique feature of the Irish landscape. Dating to early medieval times, over seventy now remain, scattered across the four provinces. From Wicklow’s Glendalough to Tipperary’s Rock of Cashel and from Aghagower in County Mayo to County Monaghan’s Clones, we will learn more about the history of Irish round towers while on the site of what is reputed to be the oldest surviving fully intact round tower in Ireland.
This talk is held with the support of South Dublin County Council.
The onsite coffee dock (Wherelse@Brú Chrónáin) will be open for the convenience of those attending the talk.
