Ross Castle through the Ages
OPW guide Noreen Brosnan will be offering a walking tour based around the barracks attached to Ross Castle (now housing the Exhibition) and Ross Cottage (formerly a forester’s cottage and tea rooms). Her talk will touch on the lives of the many people who once called Ross Castle home. Hear about Father Thaddeus Moriarty, hanged in 1653 for celebrating Mass and the last Governor, Sir Henry Johnson, and his role in the French and American Revolutionary wars.
No pre-booking is necessary for Noreen’s tour and the meeting point will be the courtyard in Ross Castle at 2pm, Sunday, August 16 and August 23.
