Photography, Memory & Resonance is an expanding exhibition of text/photography that explores questions around the presence and healing of transgenerational trauma in contemporary societies. Also in connection with the Great Irish Famine that played such a large part in Skibbereen and is excellently documented by the Skibbereen Heritage Centre (https://skibbheritage.com/).
The opening takes place on Saturday 16th at 49, North Street in Skibbereen. Following a conversation around collective trauma, featuring Pat Bracken (critical psychiatrist), Tomasz Madajczak (photographer), and Moze Jacobs (writer) there will be a Q&A, a poetry reading by Ruth Hogger and Reddy O' Regan, and a concert of music/poetry by Thaddeus O'Buachalla, the award-winning author/musician, who will sing in Irish and talk in English and accompany himself on guitar and oud.
On Friday, August 22nd (11am), members of the public are invited to join a guided tour at the Skibbereen Heritage Centre, followed by a photography exercise on location (bring a phone) under the guidance of Tomasz Madajczak.
On Saturday, August 23rd at 2pm in 49 North Street, there will be a creative writing workshop with Moze Jacobs with the goal to co-create a collective poem.
The above activities are supported by the County Cork Heritage Grant Scheme (2025).
Should you wish to join the guided tour, phone 087 1034610 before Wednesday, August 13th at 5pm.
