Our stage, our stories: a history of Tallaght's Civic Theatre

In 2026 South Dublin Libraries secured funding under the Heritage Council's Heritage Stewardship Scheme to digitise the archive of Tallaght's Civic Theatre. For 25 years, the Civic has hosted performances, showcases and workshops from local artists and performers and has served as a vibrant cultural touchstone of South Dublin County. Join Donal Shiels artistic director of the Civic Theatre for this retrospective on the legacy of a theatre serving the heart of our community. South Dublin County Council's archivist Carla Soden will discuss how the theatre's archive of programmes, posters, photographs and other ephemera is forming crucial record of cultural heritage for South Dublin County.
