Open Day at Templetogher Heritage Area

From 1pm to 3pm, guests are invited to explore the countless artefacts, exhibitions, slideshows, farm machinery of yesteryear, and demonstrations on display throughout the Heritage Area.
At 3pm comes the formal part of the programme where we focus on various aspects of heritage which would be at risk were it not for actions taken by certain people.
These elements will be brought to life by -

1. Irish Traditional Music
2. Focus on Mill Wheel turning
3. Poem in English language (written
by local Irish poet)
4. Focus on Thatching
5. Extract from our locally produced 2013 Genealogical Book “Williamstown/Templetogher Parish - Our People and Landscape”
6. Focus on Communion Tongs handcrafted in local forge
7. Poem in Irish language
8. Extract from the biography “The
Puddler Poet - the Life, Times and Poetry of Michael McGovern” by the late Jim Fahy.
9. Focus on local Heritage artefacts such as Famine Pot, Pony Trap, 1924 Olympic Scroll, Polredmond Drama Screen etc
10. Focus on “Someone Special”, whose foresight, knowledge and commitment ensured that much of our local Heritage, which would otherwise be at risk, has been saved
