Join Stewart McClean as he tells of the extraordinarily ambitious major land reclamation project on Lough Swilly during the 1800's - this a was part of the Lough Swilly Sloblands reclamation, which transformed thousands of acres of tidal mudflats into highly productive polder land - creating Inch Lake, the road connecting Inch Island to the mainland and now what is one of Ireland’s largest arable farms and much more. No wonder it may be difficult to visualise that over two hundred years ago, Newtowncunningham was a seaside town located on Cole's Bay on an inlet of Lough Swilly with the sea lapping at where the bridge is now!

Stewart McClean has an active interest in local history around the Laggan Valley of East Donegal. He has grew up listening to stories of how the "banks" were built hat allowed the land to be reclaimed from Lough Swilly in the mid 1800's.
