Mountain Lodge Conservation and Restoration Project has been awarded grant aid of €25,000 in 2026 towards remediation work at Mountain Lodge. This is to redress the ongoing problem of dry and wet rot in the building.

The hosting of this event during Heritage Week 2026, led by Garry Gleeson (Traditional & Vernacular Building Specialist) is to inform supporters and the general public of the skillsets and expertise required in the conservation and restoration Mountain Lodge while simultaneously preserving the integrity of the building.

Garry will present twice during the day 10.30am-12pm and 2.30pm – 4pm. His talk will be facilitated by slideshow and a Q&A session around conservation techniques as they relate to key elements of heritage buildings e.g. roofs / windows / doors etc.

This event is a social afternoon where visitors will be welcomed with tea, coffee and cake and can avail of free tours around Mountain Lodge throughout the day.

A free shuttle bus will operate from Glengarra Lodge carpark, or for those comfortable with a forest walk, the route is approximately 3.5km.

Tea, cake & coffee €5 (all proceeds to the restoration fund). All donations gratefully received.

If you'd like to reserve a space at one of the talks please ring / text 087 6967661.
