Miniature Railway Open Day
23 August, 12pm - 4:30pm
- DSMEE Miniature Railway, Marlay Park
- Marlay Park, Dublin 16
- Co. Dublin – Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown
Celebrating 125 years of the Dublin Society of Model and Experimental Engineers and also the operation of our miniature railways in Marlay Park. On Sunday 23 August, the Society's facilities will be open to the public and the workshop will be open to visitors.
Free train rides will be available to the public, both adults and children - the only day of the year when we carry adults.
A variety of locomotives will be in operation including steam locomotives. The day also offers prospective new members an insight into the Society, which is always open to new members, young and old. Due to works in the Park to facilitate the construction of a new cricket pitch, and the associated realignment of a significant portion of the main ground line, there will be no trains running on the ground line this year. Unfortunately this means that we will be unable to carry wheel-chair users on the railway during this years' open day.
However we look forward to an expanded ground line running in 2027, which will include new improved facilities for wheel-chair users.
