A fun, free event for the whole family: Join us for the grand opening of the Mealagh Valley Hidden Heritage Trail, an interactive journey through our community’s history, nature, and shared stories.

Our trail signs, crafted from local wood, are packed with surprises: Scan the QR codes along the way to hear local elders sharing old memories, children telling stories, and the beautiful sounds of local wildlife.

Who: Everyone is welcome—families, history buffs, nature lovers, and neighbours!

What’s Happening on the Day?

Guided "Walk & Talk": Explore the new trail and test out the interactive signs.

Live Music & Set Dancing: Enjoy uplifting traditional music and join in the dancing.

The "Scoraíocht" Story Circle: Share or listen to old local stories, folklore, photographs and historic place and old field names.

A presentation on the 1926 Census from our resident historian will be fascinating.
Kids’ Nature Zone: Fun outdoor crafts, games, and a family picnic area.

Free Refreshments: The tea will be flowing, enjoy sandwiches and homemade cakes!

Love Where You Live: Join us in keeping our valley beautiful! You can sign up for the "Mind your Mile" litter picking project.
