Marianne Taylor Living History Tour Ardgilan Castle

15 August, 11am - 4pm

  • Ardgillan Castle - seaside entrance
  • Balbriggan
  • K34C984
  • Co. Dublin – Fingal

Step back in time and experience Ardgillan Castle through the eyes of one of its former residents. This brand-new Living History Tour is led by Marianne Taylor, the lady of the house in the 1800s, who warmly welcomes guests into her home as she prepares for an elegant dinner party.

As Marianne guides you through the castle’s beautifully restored rooms, she will share stories of family life, social customs, and the history of Ardgillan and its inhabitants. Along the way, visitors will gain a fascinating insight into life in a grand country house and the people who once called Ardgillan home.

As part of this year's National Heritage Week theme, Heritage at Risk, Marianne will also incorporate the Irish language into the tour, delivering portions in Irish. By keeping the language alive and sharing it with visitors, she celebrates an important element of Ireland’s intangible heritage, helping local speakers practise what they have learned while introducing this beautiful language to those who may be hearing it for the first time.

This engaging and immersive experience brings history, culture, and language together in a unique way.

Tours are free of charge, and booking is recommended
