Lusk is a small town in Fingal with a rich history, the settlement of Lusk has been associated with St. MacCullin since c. AD 450.
The 9th century Round Tower at Saint MacCulin's Centre was built within an ecclesiastical enclosure as a refuge from the growing Viking raids on the Irish coast during this period. At 27m high (originally 32m), it has nine floors including the basement which is the highest number of any round tower. This round tower was later joined by the Anglo-Norman defensive tower in the 15th century.
Lusk Community Council and OPW are offering free guided tours of our National Monument during National Heritage Week 2026 / Lusk Community Heritage Festival. Tower, church and Belfry tours of Saint MacCullins National Monument access the ground floor of Belfry and church only and provided by OPW guides. (limited places available on a first come, first serve basis) Tours start at Saint MacCullins Centre, Lusk, K45 HF70.
Tours available on 15, 16, 22 & 23 August at 11am, 1pm & 3pm.
The buildings are subject to ongoing restoration work by the OPW. The tours will focus on the theme of Heritage Week 2026 “Heritage at Risk”.

At 4:30pm on 23 August in Saint MacCullins Centre there will be a Musical Recital, closing Lusk Heritage Festival. The recital will include songs and tunes from the early music group Pilgrimes Solace.
