LughnaFest – The Festival of Moling is a week-long celebration of the heritage, folklore, and sacred landscape of St. Mullins, County Carlow. Inspired by the life of St. Moling, founder of the 7th-century monastery at Tigh Moling, this unique community-led event explores stories of saints, rivers, poetry, and the Mad Sweeney who once swung through the trees above the valley.
Join us for guided walking tours through ancient sites, a playful Wild Child Day with storytelling, crafts, and a forest scavenger hunt, and a reflective Water Heritage Day walk tracing millraces and holy wells. Each day, we will also share a featured artefact from the local Heritage Centre across our social channels.
The week closes with a ceremonial blessing of the River Barrow, led by the Fire Mistress of Uisneach, and fireside storytelling in honour of the valley's myths and guardians.
Organised by St. Mullins Muintir na Tíre with support from local tourism business: Visit St. Mullins. LughnaFest is suitable for all ages and aims to reconnect people with the sacred stories and natural heritage of the Barrow Valley.
Come walk the paths of saints, wander the forests of Ros Broc, and rediscover the spirit of this extraordinary place.
