Linkardstown Tomb in Mangan

Every second Saturday morning we go for a walk along some quiet road or Boreen on Sliabh Dile, which is a plateau stretching from the eastern slopes of beautiful Sliabh na Mban into the wonderful county Kilkenny as far as Wingap and Black bog over Owning. On Saturday the 16th of August as part of Heritage Week which is celebrating our built heritage we will start in Nine-mile House which was officially a "town" in the 1800s. We will head east up the Mangan boreen and visit a tomb which is 5,700 years old, a strong farmers residence which was the site of a battle in the civil war and a well that could tell some stories.

The walk is moderate with some inclines and declines. There is usually more talking than walking. We usually make it interesting and always sociable. Everybody is welcome.
