Language at Risk: An Ghaeilge’s status as an Official EU Language, and its impact on the Teanga Bheo
This bilingual event will gather voices from the worlds of politics and culture for a lively evening of discussion and performance that asks the question, what does EU Official Language status mean for the Irish language? What benefit does that bring to Irish as a living language, a language of artistic expression, and as it is spoken, preserved, and celebrated today?
Beidh an ócáid seo ar siúl ina mbeidh meascán de Bhéarla agus de Ghaeilge.
Tá fáilte roimh gach duine le Gaeilge is cuma cén leibhéal nó dóibh siúd a bhfuil spéis acu sa Ghaeilge ach gan aon Ghaeilge acu. Beatha teanga í a labhairt. Speak it and it will live.
The event takes place as part of Heritage Week 2026 and is funded as part of the Culture Programme for Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026.
