
Kilmore Church and The Mausoleum.
This will be a Illustrated talk about Kilmore Church and the Mausoleum in the adjoining graveyard which will be jointly presented by Trevor Hunt and Tommie Kenoy in the parish Community Center. Trevor will focus on the Mausoleum, which was recently renovated while Tommie will talk about the church with a particular focus on the 15 memorial plaques mounted on the internal walls. It will start at 8pm. It will be followed by the launch of a podcast by Ronan Turner and Camilla Kelly entitled Kilmore; Echoes of the Past.
The Podcast aims to preserve and amplify the work of Kilmore History Society’s Schools Project. Through an engaging, conversational audio format, it seeks to make local history more accessible to the wider public, especially younger generations, and foster a deeper appreciation of Kilmore’s rich cultural and archaeological heritage. It will create an audio record of the Kilmore History Society’s Schools Project, highlighting key historical landmarks and stories from the Kilmore region in County Roscommon. The podcast will serve both as an educational resource and a storytelling platform for the community.
Ronan Turner is a local musician with a passion for storytelling and community
heritage.
Camilla Kelly is a respected local historian, holds the position of Archivist with Kilmore History Society and makes a significant contribution to the ongoing work of the Society.
