16 August, 12:30pm - 3:30pm

  • Battle of the Boyne
  • Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre Oldbridge Co. Meath
  • A92 CY68
  • Co. Meath

Jesmond Harding, one of Ireland’s leading butterfly experts, will present an indoor illustrated talk on Ireland’s butterflies in the Oldbridge Estate (Battle of the Boyne) followed by a walk in the meadow to search for butterflies.

Butterflies and moths make up about 9-10% of all life found on the planet and are critical indicators in overall environmental health.

Learn how butterflies develop, why butterflies matter, how to identify Ireland’s butterflies, the habitats they need and how you can attract butterflies to your garden.

There will be a refreshment break in Brambles Café onsite before the outdoor walk. Participants will be welcome to tea/coffee and scones. Sandwiches and other lunch foods can be purchased in the café also.

This event is suitable for children aged 7+. All children must be supervised by parents/guardians at all times. Wear weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear.

Participants are welcome to attend the indoor or outdoor sessions only, or both. Please contact the event organiser if you only wish to attend part of the event.
