Invasive Alien Plant Species: a walk in Glengarriff

19 August, 2pm - 4pm

  • Glengarriff village
  • Co. Cork County

This walk will look at the range of invasive alien plant species and garden escapes that grow around West Cork, examining where they come from, why they thrive in West Cork, what impact they have on the local ecology and how they can be controlled. The event will be led by Phoebe O’Brien (botanist and co-author of the recently published Guide to the Non-Native Invasive Plants of Britain and Ireland). It will be a gentle walk along paths, though the amenity area, following the shore adjacent to Glengarriff village.

Free event. Booking opens Sunday 1st July on Eventbrite (see link).

This event is part of the Ellen Hutchins Festival during Heritage Week. For the full programme of events see: https://ellenhutchins.com/ellen-hutchins-festival/
