Illuminated Letters Celtic Art and The Book of Kells in Oldcastle Library

Go back in time to discover the wonders of the Book of Kells, and the amazing story of its creation. Hear the intriguing story and life of St. Columcille and how the Book of Kells was created, while learning about the early monasteries and the spread of Christianity in Ireland.

This session with Francesca Caddedu includes a hands-on art class where you will create your own illuminated Celtic letter. While colouring, you will be transported to Medieval Ireland by an original story about a boy who saved the Irish myths and legends.

Francesca Cadeddu is an archaeologist and a specialist within the Heritage in Schools programme. In the last 3 years she has delivered more than 200 workshops all around Ireland bringing Irish history and archaeology back to life for kids.
